The planet Purrito

Astro Cats, hailing from the desolate planet Purrito

Rely on their partner, the Space Rabbit Detector, to transport images of the Earth’s minuscule yet beautiful flora from distant realms to their home world. Acting as vessels, the Astro Cats project the Space Rabbit Detector’s travels to various cities where they observe the wildflowers and weeds on the streets and transmit this information back to Purrito. These wildflowers and weeds gradually spread throughout the barren planet and the Space Rabbit Detector’s observations allow the Astro Cats to see the world from a different perspective.

The Astro Cats

Being too close prevents one from seeing clearly.

Perhaps, it is human nature to overlook the beauty that surrounds us, and instead, constantly pursue self-destructive endeavors. The Astro Cats, hailing from the desolate planet Purrito, often ponder this conundrum in private. They, with the aid of their partner, the Space Rabbit Detector, bring images of minuscule, yet exquisite plants from distant lands to their barren home.

Space Rabbit Detector

Upon receiving a message from the Space Rabbit Detector

The Astro Cats learned of a small island named Taiwan, there were numerous seemingly delicate and soft, yet robust plants known as dandelions growing on the roadside. The Space Rabbit Detector exclaimed, “Look! These would be suitable plants for the planet Purrito to grow! The dandelions were likened to fluffy small asteroids, appearing as if they could disappear at any moment like a shooting star, yet strong vitality gave them a chance to thrive in this desolate land.”

The intelligent detection device

Truth?

The Space Rabbit Detector, in reality, is not a living being but rather an intelligent detection machine, programmed with unique criteria for identifying noteworthy specimens. The Astro Cats often ponder if the information transmitted by the Space Rabbit Detector mirrors the true nature of humanity, or if it is simply a product of data computation.

Ah… If only there were real human beings on the planet Purrito! Perhaps then we could see the planet from a human perspective, filled with resilient shrubs… The Astro Cats dreamily imagine.

Traveling

The Astro Cats, while on the planet Purrito, gaze longingly and eagerly await the memories transmitted back by the Space Rabbit Detector during its travels throughout the Earth.

Concept

BIAS is an art project that combines traditional hand-drawn botanicals, 3D models, AI-generated images, and AR/VR. The character ‘AstroCats’ serve as the medium, projecting the redefining images of the wildflowers and weeds that are commonly seen on the streets in cities. Through different visual perspectives, the project implies that even when looking at the same small thing, one’s perception can be changed, and so does one’s imagination. Perhaps, a better definition of weeds is that they are plants with unknown uses and could be used as medicine or poison. It’s not that the plants are inherently wrong, but rather that our lack of understanding or misuse leads to prejudices.
